A gate is one internal technical check the engine must pass before its output is treated as signed: a reconciliation, a boundary condition, or a determinism-and-replay test. The count is gates passed of gates defined. Independent certification is pending across all engines.

How do you identify the binding constraint?
By running the chain — demand, conversion, capacity, fulfilment, retention and cash — on observed throughput, not on plan. The binding constraint is the stage where added input produces no added delivered output.
What if two stages look equally tight?
The verdict is withheld and both are reported as candidates with the measurement that would separate them. The engine does not average two constraints into one recommendation.
